Candle Care & Safety Guide

Proper candle care helps ensure a clean burn, stronger fragrance, and longer candle life. Please follow these recommendations for the best experience.

First Burn

The first burn is the most important.

Allow the wax to melt completely across the entire surface of the candle before extinguishing the flame.

This usually takes 2–4 hours, depending on the candle size.

A full melt pool helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn throughout the life of the candle.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm).

A properly trimmed wick helps:

  • reduce soot
  • minimize smoke
  • create a steady flame
  • improve candle performance
  • extend candle life

Burn Time

For best performance:

  • Burn candles for 2–4 hours at a time.
  • Do not burn for more than 4 hours continuously.
  • Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

Candle Safety

Always:

  • Burn candles on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep candles away from drafts.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from curtains, paper, fabrics, and other flammable materials.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer whenever possible.

Avoid blowing directly on the flame, as this may cause wax splatter.

Center the wick before the wax completely hardens.

When to Stop Burning

Stop burning the candle when approximately 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) of wax remains at the bottom of the container.

Burning beyond this level may cause the container to overheat.

Storage

Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
